Nicole earned a B.A. in English from Lafayette College, a M.Phil. in Theatre from Trinity College, Dublin, and is a doctoral candidate at the University of South Florida (USF). Her research areas include early modern and Restoration drama; feminist and LGBTQ issues in drama and theatre; and plays on death & dying. She has published articles and reviews in journals such as Restoration and 18thCentury Theatre Research and Shakespeare Bulletin. From 2004-2009, Nicole taught literature and writing at USF and the University of Tampa. She is the founder and Artistic Director of Thinking Cap Theatre. Most recently, she directed the Florida premiere of Sarah Kane's Cleansed, the world premiere of Leah Nanako Winkler's dark comedy, Death for Sydney Black, the Florida premiere of Nick Mwaluko's transgender drama, S/HE, and Joshua Conkel’s Off-Off Broadway comedy MilkMilkLemonade at Empire Stage. Nicole also works as a drama teacher, writer, and editor for Treasure Coast Hospice for whom she leads youth drama and playwriting workshops on the use of theatre as a tool for valuing life and coping with loss.

Axy earned a MFA in Acting from New School University for Drama (formerly the Actor’s Studio Drama School) in New York City. An accomplished actress, she has performed in Off Broadway productions and commercials and done voice-overs for film. One of her favorite productions in which she performed is A Midsummer Night's Dream, directed by Austin Pendleton.
Axy is passionate about teaching the art of acting. She has taught at New School University (NYC), NOVA Southeastern University & Broward College. She also enjoys teaching children about the joys of drama and theatre. Axy joined Thinking Cap Theatre out of a zest to create innovative, provocative theatre through production, direction, and acting.
